Kino International

Kino International is an icon of architectural modernism in Berlin. Built in the early 1960s, it was the premiere cinema of East Berlin for several decades. Even today, many filmmakers choose the cinema for their premieres. And it’s also an extraordinary location for other events.

Information

In 1963, Kino International was built on the Karl-Marx-Allee – the former boulevard of East Berlin – as a multifunctional cultural site. The interior is characterised by simple 1960s elegance with its huge panoramic windows with slender golden frames, fine wood panelling and original leather seating. With its ambitious program, the International is still one of the most important cinemas in Berlin today and is the official venue of the Berlinale.

Kino International today offers seven different spaces for very different occasions. In addition to the large cinema hall, the spacious, light-flooded Panoramabar on the first floor and the stair hall can also be used to hold events.
