With the reopening of the historic Kino International cinema, an important Berlin cultural monument once again became a meeting place for film, architecture, and city history. For this special evening, Berlin Cuisine developed a food concept that reinterpreted Berlin classics and was perfectly tailored to a standing event.
The focus was on the Capital Burger, which was distributed to guests via flying service and from vendor's trays – uncomplicated, urban, and in keeping with the lively atmosphere of the evening. The beef burger combined pulled beef stew with white cabbage, apple compote, Spreewald gherkins, and roasted onion mayo in a soft slider bun. The combination of hearty, fresh, and slightly sweet flavors quickly made it one of the favorites of the evening. A vegan version with pulled king oyster mushrooms ensured that all guests could enjoy the concept.
The menu was complemented by other Berlin classics in a modern event format. Königsberger meatballs with mashed potatoes and beetroot salad, as well as juicy free-range chicken with pea cream, crisp sugar snap peas, and cream sauce brought familiar flavors to the plate in a modern way. Here, too, plant-based alternatives ensured that all guests could be part of the culinary experience. All dishes were designed so that they could be eaten comfortably while standing with just one piece of cutlery.
Homemade desserts served as a flying service or to take away provided a sweet finale. Layered carrot cake with caramel, white chocolate, and golden walnuts, as well as a moist plant-based brownie with caramelized walnuts, rounded off the evening.
It was an evening that combined Berlin's cultural history with contemporary event catering and showed how regional classics can be reimagined in a modern event format.
