Last year, we had the pleasure of providing the culinary experience for the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (IHK Berlin) summer festival. We were all the more delighted to welcome approximately 1,600 guests back to the IHK Berlin this year with a food truck concept we developed ourselves. Under the theme “Culinary Kiez Market,” we created a culinary journey of discovery through the capital’s neighborhoods, combining Berlin classics, international street food influences, and regional products.
The centerpiece was our Culinary Kiez Market, featuring food trucks and market stalls where guests could explore Berlin’s culinary diversity. From bao buns with pulled beef shoulder or grilled oyster mushrooms, to brisket bowls, plant-based meatball subs, and hummus with rotating mezze selections, all the way to freshly baked pinsa in various variations - we created a laid-back food concept that fit perfectly into the open atmosphere of the summer festival. All dishes were designed to be enjoyed comfortably while standing, using just one piece of cutlery.
Berlin classics also received a modern twist. Our currywurst with Thai flavors was paired with Königsberger Klopse served with potato cream and beets, while dumplings, Pasta Norcina, Havel pikeperch, and Garden All Stars with seasonal vegetables added further culinary highlights. Of course, vegetarian, vegan, and allergen-friendly alternatives were integrated into the concept, ensuring there was something suitable for every guest.
During the speeches - including one by Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner - Flying Food complemented the offerings and provided continuous culinary accompaniment without interrupting the stage program. The sweet finale featured lemon bars with flambéed meringue as well as waffles on a stick baked live with various toppings, which perfectly rounded out the summery market concept.
